Janajagriti School Building Construction Project
CFA –Nepal is constructing a school building with seven classrooms in Bharatpokhari VDC with the financial support of FCFA -The Netherlands and in cooperation with local people. CFA is visiting the site to monitor the project and to see the progress. The work has been done by the local people much faster than CFA’s expectation.
We can see the progress of the project through the following pictures:
-
Scholarship Projects
11 scholarships are running under the monitoring of CFA –Nepal. Among them 10 scholarships are running in Prithvi Narayan Campus under different faculties and one is in Nursing Campus. CFA – Nepal is much satisfied with those projects and interested to extend this project in futute as well. While Mark van den Eijkel – the president of FCFA – is visiting Nepal in April 2013, a professionalism workshop is conducted for the students.
-
Teachers Training Project (Class observations)
CFA – Nepal completed its four teachers’ training in Kaski and one in Baglung district. As CFA has proposed that there will be of 40% class observations of the total participants. 4 class observations in Kaski district and 8 class observations in Baglung district still have to be done. In March and the beginning of the April, the schools are closed due to holidays, so it will be done at the end of April and May.

Women Literacy Projects
Two Women Literacy Projects are running in the Mugu district at the villages Ruga and Tharpa. The programs are monitored by a local NGO ,KDEC (Karnali Depressed Empowernment Centre). CFA and FCFA has appointed a supervisor from the local village, Man Pariyar. He is monitoring and giving instructions on those projects and reporting to CFA –FCFA about the progress, problems and solutions what has been done in the field. CFA – FCFA has planned initially to visit within the first six months of the poject running period. Unfortunately this is delayed by 2or 3 months due to the weather but the CFA staff visited the site in March 2013. From the field visit, it is found that the district is very remote and people are lacking many facilities, i.e. food, clothing, healthier accomodation, health services, etc. Literacy and education could not be the basic needs of those people. CFA – FCFA, together with Man Pariyar, will discuss in detail about the needs of the people living in Mugu and the possibilities.
Upcoming Projects
-
Awareness Project
CFA – Nepal has proposed to run 30 awareness progjects. The projects will be started from the month of May when the schools will be started.
-
Teachers Training Project
CFA – Nepal is planning to run 4 teachers training in Kaski district and one in Parbat district. The 4 refresher courses of the 5 days long teachers’ training held in 2012 will be done in the year of 2013.
Completed Projects
-
Women Literacy Projects
The 5 Women Literacy Projects which were running in Nirmalpokhari VDC have been completed after one year from the launching date. CFA – Nepal has evaluated the projects by taking the final tests and having meetings with the teachers and supervisor. From the tests and meetings , we came to the conclusion that among those 5 WLPs, three are very successful where the women are really dedicated and teachers also did good job. But 2 of the projects are not very successful. CFA – Nepal and FCFA are currently discussing the possibilities for the WLPs in the future.

Retaining Wall Construction
When CFA had a visit for the class observation project in Lachowk VDC, at the same time we found a school seeking support for the retaining wall. The community was constructing a school building, it was almost completed. But during the construction, a landslide disturbed the construction work. The local people are in trouble. After getting the detail information, CFA wrote a proposal to FCFA –The Netherlands for fundraising. The project was approved.
Now, the local community constructed a retaining wall with the available budget. We hope the building will be safe with that wall.
-
Furniture Purchasing Project
After the completion of the construction project in Manakamana school, CFA – FCFA has supported to purchase the furniture ( benches, desks, chairs, tables, etc) for the classrooms and an office. CFA has already sent it to the school. In April CFA – Nepal and FCFA's Chairperson Mark have attended a special opening ceremony at the school.
